Archives of the Public Administration in Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM)
The technical support given by the Madeira Regional Archives (ARM) to the various bodies and services of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira is essentially in four distinct types of interventions, which correspond to equally distinct procedures, for the purpose of:
1. Preparing and approving (through a final opinion from ARM) Reports on Evaluation of Accumulated Documents – an evaluation of the documents produced by bodies that have been eliminated or have undergone successive restructuring due to eliminated functions, or furthermore the documentation whose custody has been transferred to a service that was not responsible for its production.
2. The preparation, approval, and implementation (through a final opinion from ARM) of Decrees for Document Management – which retention time for documents kept in active and semi-active storage, as well as determining their final disposition (permanent conservation or destruction).
3. The Madeira Regional Archives furthermore has the responsibility of issuing opinions on the disposal of documents that have not been covered by any of the above processes of evaluation/selection of documents.
4. The definition of guidelines and the implementation of procedures for the efficient organisation and management of information in current and intermediate archives of the various bodies and services - through the preparation, reformulation and implementation of classification plans and archive manuals – optimising resources and modernising administrative practices.
